Behold! New Lebanon receives $100,000 grant
The recently launched Behold! New Lebanon, a Columbia County living museum of rural life, has received a $100,000 grant from the Educational Foundation of America covering new-program development and other operational support. It also recently received its charter from the New York State Board of Regents.
Behold!, which launched last August, offers guided tours and workshops that showcase the daily life and work of people in and around the region, introducing visitors to farmers, word-workers, automobile racers, foragers and others.
It’s scheduled to kick off a new, 13-week season on Jul 4 that includes sessions on cows, swamps, tracking, homesteading and working dogs. Tickets go on sale Friday, May 15; for more information, see www.beholdnewlebanon.org. To read the Times Union’s look at the launching of the museum last year, click here.
