My husband Michael and I have been theatrical designers, mostly in opera but also in theater and television, for forty years in New York City.  In the early 80’s we began to make summer trips to the Berkshires to work with Seiji Ozawa when he wanted to present opera at the Tanglewood Festival.  We fell in love with the area and made many friends so when we decided to look for our first house as a place for our semi-retirement, we naturally looked in the Berkshires. However, when we saw the American Gothic house in Lebanon Springs, we knew we’d found home.  While mostly retired, Michael and I are still lured away to work on occasional projects such as an upcoming opera with Ozawa in Japan.
