Got tomatoes, cucumbers, beans? We’ll explore the many ways to preserve the fruits of your garden (or CSA or supermarket!), including fermenting, pickling, canning, freezing and drying. I will guide you through my garden and we’ll pick herbs and vegetables which we will prepare in various ways. How safe is canning? Should we be careful about fermenting? What makes pickles, pickles? How long can you leave frozen food? These are some of the scientific questions and concerns we’ll address and you will take away some recipes to create your own delicious pickles at home.
